The price is certainly awesome, but does the Sony XBR55X900E have the specs to back it up?

As part of Amazon Prime Day 2017, those looking to snag a 4K TV to pair with their PS4 Pro or future Xbox One X have an awesome offer in the form of the Sony XBR55X900E 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV for $1,298.00 USD, a savings of about $400.

Technical details regarding this 4K TV are few and far between on Amazon, which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it. If you want to sell a 4K TV, perhaps customers should be able to view an in-depth list of specs, right? Well, Amazon couldn’t be bothered, so we went looking on your behalf, and landed on the great and powerful BestBuy.

You can view the full Sony XBR55X900E specs from BestBuy, but we’ve got the highlights listed for you below:

Maximum Resolution

3840 x 2160 (4K)

Screen Size

54.6 inches

High Dynamic Range (HDR)

Yes

Refresh Rate

120Hz

Number of HDMI Ports

4

Voice Control App

Google

Worth noting is that even the BestBuy specs, which are miles better than the ones on Amazon, don’t tell you if the four HDMI ports are 4K capable or not. You see, proper 4K requires a 60Hz 4K HDMI port. A quick search revealed unconfirmed information that, on the Sony XBR55X900E, HDMI ports two and three are proper 60Hz 4K HDMI ports. This means if you have three 4K devices you want to hook up to the TV, only two of them can be done in proper 4K, unless you have a third-party solution.

To put that into perspective, if you end up with a PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and third 4K device by the end of 2017, you can only get true 4K out of two of them using this television. Now, that might be more 4K than the average person plans to have in their home, but better to make note of it than to not.

You should also consider the reviews for the Sony XBR55X900E, which are mostly positive on Amazon. In fact, this 4K TV holds an average of 4.1 out of 5 stars on the site, and 64 percent of the 67 customer reviews give it five stars, while only eight percent of reviews gave the product one star. Each of the one-star reviews were either problems with shipping, packaging, or their television was “bricked” from the moment they tried to power it on, but none talked about the performance of the television being bad. They never got that far.

It’s still not a bad deal for those looking to make the jump to a 4K TV, and you can snag the Sony XBR55X900E 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV on Amazon right now, just know what you’re getting.
