E3 2017: Pikmin 4 is 'Still Progressing,' Miyamoto Says

With Nintendo showing many of its iconic games and characters at this E3, the little half-plant, half-animal Pikmin were conspicuously absent.

Last year, after a Pikmin 4 no show at E3 2016, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that the game was still in development, but not one of the company's top priorities. It is now E3 2017, and again Pikmin 4 is nowhere to be found. But it is still in development, honest.

Miyamoto told Eurogamer that he was sworn to secrecy this year. "I've been told not to share anything about this from PR," he said, "but I can tell you it is progressing."

The move is a bit surprising as Miyamoto had said last year that the game was close to being done. And with this year's reveals for 3DS and Nintendo Switch, including character mainstays Samus Aran, Yoshi, Mario and Kirby in their own new games, The colorful Pikmin are conspicuous in their absence.
