E3 2017: Yoshi Gets A New Adventure
Mario's prehistoric sidekick returns in a new title with a familiar feel.
One of the more surprising reveals from Nintendo's E3 2017 presentation is an all-new game that follows Yoshi, the breakout dinosaur star from the Super Mario series. Simply titled Yoshi, the game looks to follow in the same vein as Yoshi's Story for the Nintendo 64, or even Yoshi's Island from way back in the Super Nintendo days.
The new title looks to place 2D-based gameplay in a 3D world where Yoshi can collect and throw eggs at different objects in the environment. Using various switches, Yoshi can also flip the game's perspective, allowing players access to the reverse sides of walls and the interiors of buildings.
It could be said that Yoshi looks to take its visual inspiration from the likes of LittleBigPlanet, but that's not a bad thing. The homemade-craft aesthetic certainly seems to work for the gameplay here, particularly if players themselves are able to dictate the direction of the action.
We'll likely learn more about Yoshi's latest outing in the coming months, as Yoshi is set to release for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2018.

It's kind of funny how many games Nintendo is putting out on the Unreal engine.

Agreed, it's just one more company they're splitting profits with, but it's a really good way to get probably the most important engine working exactly as you want it to on your new hardware.

Yeah by putting many of your best games on that engine you send a signal to everybody else how well UE4 works on the system, and that you're committed to supporting it. And I'm sure at this point it actually saves them a lot of effort not to use a custom engine. I think more and more games will be built in standard engines over time.

I believe both the Kirby and Yoshi games also showed the UE4 logo although now you have me second guessing myself.

I also loved the new Kirby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc3PAAije0Y so good. Its what I wanted on the Wii U instead of the Pad controlled one which looked awesome but did not have a normal game pad support.
So happy both are coming out, I am totally getting both of them.
Man I really hope they also make a follow up to New Super Mario Bros Wii U and DK Tropical Freeze.
