NIN's Trent Reznor To Release Quake Soundtrack on Vinyl

Trent Reznor, founder and songwriter of Nine Inch Nails, has listed a vinyl album for the original Quake on the band's NIN.com storefront. As of this writing the page redirects users to a 404 page, but the listing exists and (one would expect) should be updated soon.

Quake, which celebrated its 20th birthday last year, was scored by Reznor and NIN. Unlike id's earlier hits Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, which predominantly featured heavy metal-inspired tracks, Quake's score consisted almost entirely of grim, ambient music that fit in perfectly with its grungy visual direction. The game's intro is considered its most memorable theme, and set the tone for the four-episode campaign.

The Steam version of Quake does not include the soundtrack. To listen to it, you've got to dig up your original CD from 1996 or rip a play list from YouTube. Buying a vinyl won't provide a cure for syncing the game's soundtrack as you play, but it'll look great in your collection.
