Rockstar will release the game 'when it is ready.' Which is another several months, apparently.

Following rumors that Red Dead Redemption 2 might be saddling up for an October release date, many fans worried that the game would be delayed at least once. Sure enough, Rockstar has issued an email to press announcing that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed until spring 2018 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

"This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans," a Rockstar representative wrote. "We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer."

The publisher/developer softened the blow by publishing over half a dozen brand-new screens from Red Dead Redemption 2, which you can view below. The game looks stunning. As for how it plays, we'll have to wait a little while longer to find out.
